Stroud CAMRA and Gloucestershire CAMRA converged at the Chalford Sports & Social Club on 1st June to present Ali & Rob Brady with a brace of certificates recording their win for Stroud Sub-branch and Gloucestershire Branch Club of the Year. On offer at the bar was Mad Squirrel – Sumo @ 4.7% ABV, Stroud – Ramblers Reward @ 3.4% ABV (which just run out when we arrived) and Black Iris – Endless Summer @ 4.5% ABV.
The club provided snacks for which we are grateful and to make it a bit more of an event we made use
of the skittle alley for a game of killer as we have done in previous years. For those that may not know
the game involves, £1 in the pot, winner takes all, you start with three lives and to stay in the game you
just need to knock at least one pin down on your turn. Miss and you lose a life. The game starts with
nine pins up and pins are only reset when all are knocked down. Andy Long, last years winner of Killer
for Stroud CAMRA was regrettably not there to defend his title and Chalford won the honour back with
Josie Rawlinson winning.
