Stroud and Gloucestershire CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year 2025 Presentation

April 13, 2025 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Free
The Stroud branch of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has awarded The Carpenters Arms at Westrip (‘Carps’) their Cider Pub of the Year accolade for 2025. This is their third consecutive win!
As a result the ‘Carps’ went up against other pubs in Gloucestershire including the Pelican, Gloucester and the Hoptician in Dursley to win Gloucestershire Cider Pub of the Year for 2025
The ‘Carps’ now goes forward and is being judged in the next round of the competition where it comes up against Gloucestershire Area pubs including the Strand, Cheltenham & Cross House Tavern, Tewkesbury.
For those that may not know the competition is for pubs serving “real” cider which is
Cider/Perry that is fermented from the whole juice of fresh pressed apples or pears, without the use of concentrated or chaptalised (added sugar) juice.
Most mass market ciders, by large producers such as Westons or Bulmers fail this test, with smaller local producers tending to comply. Names such as Orchard Revival, Days Cottage and Snailsbank are those that do and those that you may find at the Carpenters Arms
Please join us at a double presentation on Sunday 13th April @ 4pm where you are assured of a good pint of cider, including the pubs own Rowdy Stroudy. Other drinks are of course available with the ‘Carps’ having a place in the 2025 Good Beer Guide reflecting their prowess in delivering a good pint of ale also.
