Brewing & Cider-Making in the Stroud Valleys (External)

May 15 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

St Paul’s Church in Whiteshill is holding a ‘Brewing Weekend’ in the church. The weekend begins with a talk on Friday 15th May at 7.30pm presented by Michael Smith who will give an insight into the pubs and breweries which were a feature of our Five Valleys. So many changes have taken place since the mid-17th century within this industry when small family-owned breweries, commercial breweries and home brewing were a feature across the county and no more so than in the Five Valleys.

Michael will recount tales of the pubs and breweries which played an
important role in the social history of our area and of their landlords and
landladies who were always characters … in one way or another. He will
recount stories from the early days of the Brewing and Cider-making industry accompanied by a slide show featuring photographs of the old inns and breweries, the workers and the equipment used. You will be transported from the 1700’s through to our breweries of today.

Tickets for the Talk are £10 and are available from Ruscombe & Whiteshill Village shop or on the door. There will be the chance to preview the exhibition on the Friday evening and enjoy a glass of wine or a beer, which has only travelled from Inchbrook, brewed by The Fresh Standard Brew Company.
